SENIOR ACCOUNTANT - HAILSHAM

We are seeking an experienced Chartered Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA) or Part-Qualified Accountant to join a well-established professional services firm. This senior, hands-on role combines responsibility for internal accounting and finance with delivery of external accounting and tax services to a portfolio of business owners, directors, and high-net-worth clients.

The role offers variety, autonomy, and close collaboration with directors and clients.

Key Responsibilities
Internal Accounting:

Manage the firm’s accounting function, including monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow
Prepare statutory accounts, oversee bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll, and VAT
Ensure compliance with HMRC, Companies House, and regulatory requirements
Liaise with external auditors, accountants, and regulators
Provide financial insight and reporting to directors

Client Accounting & Tax Services:

Prepare and review accounts and tax returns for owner-managed businesses, directors, and individuals
Submit corporation tax, VAT, and Self Assessment returns
Advise clients on basic tax matters and compliance deadlines
Support clients with bookkeeping and accounting software queries

About You

Essential:

• Chartered or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CA)
• Strong practice or professional services accounting experience
• Solid technical knowledge of UK accounting standards, corporation tax, VAT, and Self Assessment
• Experience preparing limited company accounts and tax returns
• High accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail
• Confident communicator with clients and senior stakeholders

About you:

Desirable 

• Experience with owner-managed businesses
• Experience in financial services or regulated environment
• Strong Excel and cloud accounting software skills (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)

Supervisory or mentoring experience
